Nicola has worked with a number of companies, from some of the country’s largest insurers, to smaller boutique firms. In that time, she’s gained invaluable experience in a variety of disciplines, including underwriting, retirement planning, drug management and health and wellness. She is also a member of the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute (CPBI), Advocis, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS), the Vancouver Board of Trade and the Women’s Executive Network.

    We were frustrated with the ridiculously high rate increases with our previous benefits plan and the lack of support or communication we had with our broker. Nicola helped simplify and explain in easy-to-understand terms how benefits packages work, how insurance companies work, and how they set their rates, explaining why premium may increase or decrease each year (in our case, increase!).  I also liked how Nicola broke down the benefits package into its individual components so we could look for ways to save money but still present a well-rounded package for our employees.   • It is very helpful to now have detailed claims information and the quarterly reports that TRG prepares.

    The insurance carriers and the third party administrator we used were technologically outdated, and they did not provide the kind of detail we wanted regarding our benefits plan. There was also a lack of consistency with claims adjudication and a poor employee experience. We were looking to upgrade in these areas.

    TRG performed an audit of our original group plan and presented options for improvement.  When we decided on a change, TRG shopped the market for us, prepared an in-depth analysis, advised on the differences, set up presentations and guided us through a decision process to choose a carrier best suited to our needs.

    We made the change to a carrier with a web based platform. Our staff love the fast claims turn-around time, the cell phone apps that are available for many of the claim categories, and the drug card.  As administrators, it is very helpful to now have detailed claims information and the quarterly reports that TRG prepares.

  • I didn’t think companies like TRG existed anymore, but they do.

    I don’t know where to begin. I walked into a position that included responsibilities I was not trained for: Human Resources. In over a year in my new position, no-one from our existing benefits consulting firm or insurer reached out to me. Their service/advice was reactive, responding only to the questions I emailed to them. What bothered me was the fact that maybe there were questions I should have been asking but didn’t know enough to ask.

    We needed new representation and, thankfully, Nicola from TRG contacted us. From the moment we met her we felt a sense of comfort. There was no pushy sales talk or false promises, just the facts. She taught us Benefits 101, asked good questions and offered some recommendations…then gave us time to think about things. We hired Nicola and she and her team went to work to redesign our plan and find the right insurer for us. They provided a timeline of the proposed changes and let us know what work commitment was expected of us, so there were no surprises.

    Our implementation with our new insurer was right on schedule and went off without a hitch. We got what we were promised and even more. There were training sessions in both our Kelowna and Vancouver offices. That took the pressure off me to have to train the staff. It was done in a very easy-to-understand format and all staff went away feeling comfortable and empowered with the ability to control their own benefits online. Any questions that could not be answered immediately were sought out and delivered to us very quickly.

    What I am most impressed with is that we never have to figure out what we need and then ask them to deliver. They come to us with suggestions on how we might be better served. With as busy as we are with the day-to-day running of our organization, the one thing we never have to worry about is our benefits, because TRG does the worrying for us. If we have any questions or need help with anything at all, there is always someone there to talk to.

    In our ever-changing world, change is inevitable but TRG is and will continue to be the one constant in our company. I didn’t think companies like TRG existed anymore, but they do. I would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Thanks TRG!
